Currently available YADDS series kits

YADDS-8S: A Standalone Serial Mode DDS Generator
Operating the AD7008 in serial mode provides an easy 3-wire interface, conveniently using leaded components only.

YADDS-8P: A Standalone Parallel Mode DDS Generator
Operating the AD7008 in parallel mode lends itself for exciting I/Q modulation experiments, using a standard 14 pin LCD-style interface.

YADDS-5: A high Performance DDS Generator
A professional quality PCB and surface mount componenets ensure that the 70dB close-in spurious-free dynamic range of the AD9850/AD9851 is not compromised. The new 'rev-II' PCB will host a discrete crystal in addition to the usual 8-pin or 14-pin XO's, and has provision for two boards to be configured in I/Q mode. The RF output level can be increased to 4dBm using the optional output transformer.

LOGDET: A Log Detector and 12bit ADC
Packing the 12-bit MAX191 ADC on the same PCB with the MC3356/MC13055 IF chips provides a versatile 90dB dynamic range log detector with better than 0.1dB resolution.

YALOG: Yet Another Log Detector
A carefully optimised layout ensures that the inherent 100dB dynamic range of the AD8307 is retained. Input switching is provided to allow easy interface to both LC and XTAL IF stages in the YADDS Homebrew Spectrum Analyzer.

YAPLL-V: Universal VHF PLL Module
Using the MC145170P1 to drive the Mini-Circuit POS range VCOs, a stable output signal is generated between 25MHz and 180MHz, phase locked either to an on-board crystal, or an external DDS source for fine frequency control.

YAPLL-U: Universal UHF PLL Module
Using the MC145191 to drive the Mini-Circuit POS range VCOs, alternatively the Murata MQC-403-xxx and MQC-505-xxx series, or the Synergy VCO-P-xxx range, a stable output signal is generated between 300MHz and 1400MHz, phase locked either to an on-board crystal, or an external DDS source for fine frequency control. Driven by a DDS source, ideal as a first LO for the YADDS Homebrew Spectrum Analyzer.

FETMIX: Front End for a Heterodyne Sweeper
A mixer input stage preserves the 80dB dynamic range of the YADDS Scalar Analyzer System if the frequency range is extended to VHF (65MHz..170MHz) or UHF (400MHz..765MHz) by using the YADDS controlled YAPLL-V or YAPLL-U modules.

YALCFIL: Four Pole Variable Bandwidth LC Filter
Packing a four pole variable bandwidth LC filter on a 100mm x 50mm PCB provides the wide bandwidth selectivity stage for the YADDS Homebrew Spectrum Analyzer. The resolution bandwidth is continuously variable from 100kHz to 3MHz.

YAQFIL: Four Pole Variable Bandwidth XTAL Filter
Packing a four pole variable bandwidth XTAL filter on a 100mm x 50mm PCB provides the narrow bandwidth selectivity stage for the YADDS Homebrew Spectrum Analyzer. The resolution bandwidth is continuously variable from 1kHz to 30kHz.

YAFEND: Spectrum Analyzer Front End
A flexible design allows different mixer types, helical filters or transistor types to be used in a classic dual conversion front-end. The circuit includes an input attenuator, image filtering, two triple helical filters as 1st IF, LO buffers, a high IP wideband IF stage and a 3-section 2nd IF filter. The PCB fits into a standard 100mm x 50mm shielded box.

VGA603: 2Hz to 50MHz Output Buffer and Voltage Controlled Attenuator
Optional output buffer and attenuator for the YADDS-8 or YADDS-5 DDS modules, provides an output level continuously adjustable from +10dBm to -30dBm into 50 ohms (500mVp to 5mVp EMF). The frequency response is flat from 2Hz to 50MHz, thus the same generator section can be used both as an Audio and an RF signal source.

ACDC: Precision Audio AC/DC Converter
Input impedance is 1Mohm || 20pF (adjustable), compatible with standard 1:10 scope probes. The output DC voltage is proportional to the input AC voltage. In contrast to the widely used single chip RMS converters, the DC voltage settling time does not depend on the input level. Used as part of a high precision audio sweeper with 50dB dynamic range.
